Welcome Back Cedar Trails Family!

What a fantastic start to the school year! Our first day with students in 1st through 5th grade was filled with excitement, smiles, and a great deal of positive energy. It was wonderful to see classrooms buzzing with first day learning, reconnecting with old friends, and meeting new friends and teachers. We are so proud of how our students started the year and grateful for the support of our families. Thanks to everyone who helped make the first day such a success! We look forward to our kindergarten friends starting next Tuesday, September 1st.

This morning, we held lunch and recess assemblies for all our 1st through 5th grade students. These assemblies focused on expectations, safety, kindness, and having fun while making good choices during these important unstructured times. Taking time to teach and practice these routines helps us create a safe, positive environment where every student can thrive.

Community Safety Reminder: School Bus Laws

As I was driving to school this morning, I came upon buses that had their stop paddles out and red lights flashing. I watched many cars drive right past the stop paddles. This made me think that as our students return to school and buses are back on the road, we would like to remind all drivers about our Washington State school bus safety laws.

When a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop paddle extended, drivers must stop as required by state law. On two-lane roads, traffic traveling in both directions must stop. On roads with three or more lanes or highways with a physical median, drivers traveling in the opposite direction do not need to stop, but vehicles traveling in the same direction as the bus must always stop. Drivers who illegally pass a stopped school bus may receive a mandatory $500 fine. Our students' safety depends on all of us. Please slow down, stay alert, and exercise extra caution around school buses, crosswalks, and school zones. Also, while talking about our buses, NO CARS should be driving through the bus loop during morning drop-off times and afternoon pick-up times. Thanks for helping us keep our bus loop for BUSES ONLY during these important times.
